Dalquharran Castle

Dalquharran Castle is a category A listed building in South Ayrshire, Scotland, designed by Robert Adam and completed around 1790. The first recorded lord of the property which already included a castle, was Gilbert Kennedy, as stated in a 1474 Charter for the nearby Crossraguel Abbey; the estate was later owned by the Kennedy family for centuries.

Dailly

Dailly (Scottish Gaelic: Dail Mhaol Chiarain) is a village in South Ayrshire, Scotland. It is located on the Water of Girvan, five miles (eight kilometres) south of Maybole, and three miles (five kilometres) east of Old Dailly. "New Dailly", as it was originally known, was laid out in the 1760s as a coal-mining village. In 1849 a fire broke out in Maxwell Colliery, one of the nearby mines, and continued to burn for 50 years. In Dailly there are two castles which the locals call the new castle and the old castle; they are both derelict.

Ayr is the former county town of the historic Ayrshire county, with the political activity of the Ayrshire County Council being based at County Buildings. From 1975 to 1996 under the name Kyle and Carrick (Scottish Gaelic: A' Chùil agus a' Charraig) it was one of nineteen local government districts in the Strathclyde region.
