Bisa Aberwa Museum

Bisa Abrewa Museum is a museum with sculptural representations of wood, clay, cement, paintings and photographs in Nkontompo in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis of the Western Region, Ghana. The museum has about 2,200 artifacts relating to heroes of Africa. Also sculptural pieces and photographs of the civil rights movement and other Black personalities in the French, Portuguese and Spanish Caribbean.

However, on 29 February 2008, it was split off into two new districts: Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan District and Shama District. The metropolis was located in the southeast part of Western Region and had Sekondi-Takoradi as its capital town.

Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly is one of the fourteen districts in Western Region, Ghana. Or It was formerly part of the then-larger Shama Ahanta East Metropolitan District in 1988, which was created from the former Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Authority Council, until the eastern part of the district was split off to create Shama District on 29 February 2008; thus the remaining part has been renamed as Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan District. However on 15 March 2018, the western part of the district was split off to become Effia Kwesimintsim Municipal District; thus, the remaining part has been retained as Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan District. The metropolis is located in the southeast part of Western Region and has Sekondi-Takoradi as its capital town. The Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan District has a Political and Administrative structure. The Political Structure is composed of the General Assembly of fifty-seven members, comprising thirty-six elected members and Seventeen appointed members, the Metropolitan Chief Executive and three Members of Parliament as members of the Assembly.

Takoradi Technical University

Takoradi Technical University is a public tertiary education institution located in Sekondi-Takoradi, the capital of the Western Region of Ghana. Takoradi Technical University sits in the Western Region of Ghana, where the sea breeze from the Atlantic Ocean mixes with the sound of busy classrooms and workshop machines. Takoradi Technical University was established as a government technical institute in 1954 and became part of the State Tertiary Education System. Later, after the passage of the Polytechnic Law of 1992, it was replaced by the Polytechnics Law in 2007. In 2016, the bill to convert six out of the 10 polytechnics into a fully fledged university received the unanimous approval of Ghanaian legislators.

The Museum is believed to be one of the world's largest private collections of artifacts, audio visual and sculptures representing the African story. It was inaugurated by the first lady of Ghana, Rebecca Akuffo Addo, government officials and traditional leaders on July 28, 2019.

The Museum was curated by Kwaw Ansah, an award-winning filmmaker, founder and first CEO of TV Africa. The collections of artifacts started 40 years ago.
