Hüseyin Avni Aker Stadium was the stadium located in Trabzon, where Trabzonspor played its matches until January 26, 2017. The stadium also served as the main stadium in the "1st Black Sea Games" and the 2011 European Youth Olympic Games. It is also one of the stadiums where the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup was held.

Hagia Sophia is a formerly Greek Orthodox church that was converted into a mosque following the conquest of Trabzon by Mehmed II in 1461. It is located in Trabzon, northeastern Turkey. It was converted into a museum in 1964 and back into a mosque in 2013. The building dates back to the thirteenth century, when Trabzon was the capital of the Empire of Trebizond. It is located near the seashore and two miles west of the medieval town's limits. It is one of a few dozen Byzantine sites extant in the area and has been described as being "one of the finest examples of Byzantine architecture".

In April 2021, archaeologists announced the discovery of Roman and Byzantine period archeological remains. The southern part of the wicker columns and fortifications of the Roman emperor Hadrian's period, trench walls of Byzantine period dating back to 1460 have been discovered. Remains of Roman tiles and pottery were also discovered during the excavations. According to the Trabzon City Municipality, the excavation area is planned to be turned into an open-air museum.
