Forrestfield is a small settlement in North Lanarkshire, Scotland. It is located on the A89 road, 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) east of Caldercruix and 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) west of Blackridge. Until 1956 the settlement had a railway station on the former Bathgate and Coatbridge Railway. This line reopened in 2010 as the Airdrie–Bathgate rail link, although Forrestfield station was not reopened. Cairneyhill Quarry, a whinstone quarry operated by Tarmac, lies 0.5 kilometres (0.31 mi) to the south of Forrestfield.

Hillend Loch Railway Path

The Hillend Loch Railway Path, also known as the Airdrie to Bathgate Railway Path, is a rail trail located in central Scotland. The path is approximately 14 miles (23 km) long and follows the route of the former Bathgate and Coatbridge Railway between Airdrie, North Lanarkshire (55.8662°N 3.9539°W / 55.8662; -3.9539 (Hillend Loch Railway Path, Airdrie trailhead)), and Bathgate, West Lothian (55.8918°N 3.6224°W / 55.8918; -3.6224 (Hillend Loch Railway Path, Bathgate trailhead)). It formed part of National Cycle Route 75 which runs from Clyde to Forth. It is also known as Airdrie to Bathgate Railway Path. The railway reopened in 2010 and the path was relocated to run alongside the railway line.

Forrestburn Hillclimb

Forrestburn Speed Hill Climb is a 1,030-metre (3,380 ft) hillclimb track rising from 221m to 246m AOD with a maximum gradient of 1:4 near Kirk o' Shotts in North Lanarkshire, central Scotland. The track opened in 1993, and was the first purpose-built hillclimb track in the United Kingdom to be completed since Brooklands in the 1930s. Forrestburn Hillclimb is operated by Monklands Sporting Car Club, and all speed hillclimbs at Forrestburn are rounds of the Scottish Hillclimb Championship. The site was designed by Willie Miller Urban Design as part of a projected Scottish motor racing circuit which was never taken forward.
