Caledonian Braves F.C.

Caledonian Braves Football Club is a Scottish semi-professional football club based in Motherwell, North Lanarkshire. They are members of the Lowland League, in the fifth tier of the Scottish football league system. The club originated from Edusport Academy, a residential youth academy for French footballers founded in 2011 and initially based at the Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility in Motherwell, North Lanarkshire, before relocating to Lesser Hampden in Glasgow in 2015. A second centre based in Edinburgh opened in 2014. From the 2014–15 season onwards, they fielded a team under the Edusport Academy name in Scottish senior football, the only private academy to do so in a recognised senior league. They initially played in the South of Scotland League before winning promotion to the Lowland League in 2017. As Edusport, the senior team played at the Hamilton Palace Sports Ground in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire (2014–2015) and Galabank in Annan, Dumfries and Galloway (2015–2019). From 2018 onwards, the senior team began to operate separately from the academy after launching a membership scheme, Our Football Club. In 2019 they were rebranded as Caledonian Braves and opened their own Alliance Park ground within Strathclyde Country Park in North Lanarkshire. In 2025, American investor Logan Chandler purchased a minority stake of the club.

Bothwellhaugh

Bothwellhaugh was a Scottish coal mining village, which housed Hamilton Palace Colliery workers and their families. Locals referred to the village as The Pailis, and it was located near the towns of Motherwell, Bellshill and Hamilton, in Lanarkshire. The village was occupied from the mid-1880s, until it was demolished in 1965.

M&D's

M&D's is an amusement park located in Motherwell, North Lanarkshire, Scotland. Bordering on Strathclyde Park, the park contains two rollercoasters, two water rides, several fairground rides, a arcade, a theatre, Cosmic Bowl and an indoor tropical house, Amazonia. In 2018, North Lanarkshire Council approved an expansion proposal from the park. The park went into administration on 23 April 2020, but was purchased on 22 June 2020.

Battle of Bothwell Bridge

The Battle of Bothwell Bridge, or Bothwell Brig' took place on 22 June 1679. It was fought between government troops and militant Presbyterian Covenanters, and signalled the end of their brief rebellion. The battle took place at the bridge over the River Clyde between Hamilton and Bothwell in Lanarkshire, Scotland. The battlefield has been included in the Inventory of Historic Battlefields in Scotland and protected by Historic Scotland under the Historic Environment (Amendment) Act 2011.

Bothwell Bridge Lido

Bothwell Bridge Lido was a lido on the south-west side of Bothwell Bridge in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire, Scotland. The lido was opened in the 1930s and was in use until the early 1980s, when much of the area was built over by the A725 road, known locally as the East Kilbride Expressway. The lido is unique with the water being the River Clyde. It also had Victorian-style gardens named "Lido Gardens". This is easiest to see from the Clyde Walkway and NCR 74 which run parallel to the A725, but have stairs down to the gardens. Remains of the sandy beach are still visible as of 2020.
