Springwood, Huddersfield

Springwood is a district of Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England. It is immediately to the west of Huddersfield town centre and stretches as far as the town's Greenhead Park. There is a large 800 space car park which is used by workers and shoppers to the town centre. It is a buffer between the Springwood's housing and the town centre. The Huddersfield and Penistone railway lines run underneath Springwood and two giant ventilation shafts overlook the area built as an outlet for smoke from steam trains from the early days of rail.

St Thomas's Church, Huddersfield

St Thomas's Church is a Church of England church in the Diocese of Leeds. It is situated in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England and is a Grade II* listed building. The church was designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott and built between 1857 and 1859. It was consecrated in 1859 and celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2009.

Huddersfield bus station serves the town of Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England. The bus station was opened on Sunday 1 December 1974 and is owned and managed by Metro. It is the busiest bus station in West Yorkshire and is used by more than 33,000 passengers every day. The bus station is situated in Huddersfield town centre, underneath the Multi-storey car park. It is bordered by the Ring Road (Castlegate A62) and can be accessed from High Street, Upperhead Row and Henry Street. There are 25 pick-up and three alighting only stands at the bus station.

Greenhead College

Greenhead College is a sixth form college, and former grammar school, in Huddersfield, in the county of West Yorkshire, England. The principal is Mo Bunter. With over 2,700 students, it is a large college, and students come from Wakefield, Manchester, Barnsley, Bradford, Leeds, Halifax, Wetherby and Wales, as well as from Huddersfield. It is next to Greenhead Park, one of the largest parks in Huddersfield.

Longroyd Bridge

Longroyd Bridge is a suburb approximately 1200 yds (1.1 km) to the southwest of Huddersfield town centre, West Yorkshire, England. The area is composed of industrial and commercial units. There is little housing in the commercial area, though within a few hundred yards are the housing areas of Thornton Lodge and Paddock. The dominating feature of the area is the viaduct carrying the Sheffield—Huddersfield Penistone Line railway over the valley of the River Colne from the station at Lockwood to Springwood Junction and tunnel where the line continues under Greenhead to arrive at Huddersfield railway station. Longroyd Bridge is where the A62, Manchester Road, route to Manchester passes over the Huddersfield Narrow Canal and the River Colne, it then travels down through the Colne Valley passing Milnsbridge, Linthwaite, and Slaithwaite to Marsden before crossing the Pennine hills to Oldham and Manchester. The Huddersfield Narrow canal has been extensively reconstructed over the last few years, with long infilled stretches dug out again. In places this has required major civil engineering work to route the canal under buildings that had been constructed over the canal when it became disused. Also to replace newly constructed lock gates. Within the first year after re-opening the canal drained out, unexpectedly, leaving some narrowboats and leisure craft stranded for several days. Then again in early 2009 there was a leak, which again stranded boats.
