Park Halt railway station

Park Halt railway station on the Middleton Railway in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England is the terminal station of the railway. It is situated next to Middleton Park. The halt was constructed so passengers could alight to walk around the reclaimed colliery site of Broom Pit and allow for the run-round of trains. Park Halt is located near the John Charles Centre for Sport. The site consists of a platform with pedestrian access into the park.

John Charles Centre for Sport

The John Charles Centre for Sport is a multi-purpose sports facility in South Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It consists of the South Leeds Stadium (a rugby league, football, and athletics stadium), an aquatics centre, indoor athletics centre, and tennis centre. In 2007 the complex was renamed in honour of John Charles (1931–2004), the former Leeds United, Juventus and Wales footballer. The complex is located to the south of Leeds city centre roughly on the border of Beeston, Belle Isle and Hunslet. The sports centre opened in 1996, and the Aquatics Centre opening in 2007. The stadium has been used by Leeds United for reserve matches, and since November 1995 by rugby league club Hunslet. It is the principal athletics stadium in the Leeds area and is the home of Leeds City Athletic Club. South Leeds F.C. (formerly Middleton FC) have used the stadium since 2024 enabling the club to be promoted to the Northern Counties East League.

Cockburn John Charles Academy

Cockburn John Charles Academy (formerly The South Leeds Academy) is a mixed secondary school located in the Belle Isle area of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It was originally known as Belle Isle Middle School, before becoming a secondary school. It was then renamed Merlyn Rees Community High School. The school was formally merged with Matthew Murray High School in 2006 and was renamed South Leeds High School. The school then relocated to a new site near John Charles Centre for Sport. In 2009 the school converted to academy status and was renamed The South Leeds Academy. After a period of poor results the school gained a new sponsor in 2018 and was renamed Cockburn John Charles Academy. Cockburn John Charles Academy offers GCSEs and BTECs as programmes of study for pupils. The new academy no longer has a Sixth Form but has strong relationships with local Post 16 providers. Cockburn John Charles Academy is the 2nd in a franchise of schools owned by the same sponsor and all sharing the Cockburn name.

Belle Isle is a large suburb 3 miles (5 km) south of Leeds city centre, West Yorkshire, England. It is bounded to the north and east by the M621 motorway. The district lies in the LS10 Leeds postcode area. Belle Isle is part of the Middleton Park ward of Leeds City Council and Leeds South parliamentary constituency.

Middleton Park

Middleton Park is a public park in Middleton, Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It covers an area of 630 acres (255.0 ha), nearly a square mile of which 200 acres (80.9 ha) are ancient woodland. There is also a small lake, recreational areas and a former golf course. The reclaimed site of "Middleton Broom" Colliery has been incorporated into the park. By its northern boundary is the South Leeds Stadium, home of rugby league club Hunslet. The Middleton Railway runs between Moor Road, Hunslet and Park Halt railway station. It is also the site of Leeds Urban Bike Park. It is known locally as 'Miggy Park'.
