Fossil Grove

Fossil Grove est un ensemble de fossiles situé à Glasgow, en Écosse, dans le parc Victoria (en). Il a été découvert en 1887 et contient les souches fossilisées et les racines de onze arbres du genre Lepidodendron, parfois décrits comme des « Lycopodiopsida géantes », mais qui sont plus étroitement liés aux isoètes. Ces souches se trouvent à l'intérieur d'un bâtiment construit pour les protéger des éléments. Fossil Grove est géré comme un musée et constitue la plus ancienne attraction touristique de Glasgow depuis son ouverture au public en 1890.

The Fossil Grove is a group of plant fossils located within Victoria Park, Glasgow, Scotland. It was discovered in 1887 and contains the fossilised stumps and the stigmarian system of eleven extinct Lepidodendron lycopsids, which are sometimes described as "giant club mosses" but are more closely related to quillworts. The Fossil Grove is managed as a museum and has been a popular tourist attraction since it opened for public viewing in 1890. The site, Glasgow's most ancient visitor attraction and the remnants of an extensive ancient forest, is viewed from within a building constructed to protect the fossils from the elements.

Whiteinch Victoria Park railway station

Whiteinch Victoria Park railway station was a suburban railway station serving Whiteinch in Glasgow, Scotland. It was opened as a goods station known as Whiteinch in 1874 as part of the newly constructed Whiteinch Railway. In 1897, the station was rebuilt as Whiteinch Victoria Park, with services running to Jordanhill railway station. Passenger services were suspended from 1 January 1917 until 2 June 1919. Final closure of the passenger service was terminated in 1951. It remained in use for goods and as a depot during the electrification of other routes in the area, finally closing in 1967.

Victoria Park, Glasgow

Victoria Park is a 20-hectare (50-acre) park located in the west of Glasgow, Scotland, adjacent to the districts of Scotstoun, Whiteinch, Jordanhill and Broomhill. The park was created and named for Queen Victoria's jubilee in 1887. The main entrances to the park are from Westland Drive, Victoria Park Drive North, and Balshagray Avenue. The Friends of Victoria Park (FoVP) is a West Glasgow group set up to protect and develop Victoria Park.

Whiteinch Burgh Hall is a municipal building on Victoria Park Drive South in Whiteinch, part of Glasgow, Scotland. The burgh hall, which is currently derelict, is a Category B listed building.

Willy's Chocolate Experience

Willy's Chocolate Experience was an unlicensed event based on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory that took place in Glasgow, Scotland, in February 2024. The event was promoted as an immersive and interactive family experience, illustrated on a promotional website with "dreamlike" AI-generated images. After it was discovered that the event was held in a sparsely decorated warehouse, many customers complained, and the police were called to the venue. The event went viral on the Internet and attracted worldwide media attention. The event drew comparisons to the 2008 Lapland New Forest controversy, the 2014 Tumblr fan convention DashCon, and Billy McFarland's 2017 Fyre Festival.
