St Ninian's High School, Giffnock

St Ninian's High School is a six-year co-educational Roman Catholic state high school in Giffnock, East Renfrewshire, Scotland. The school, which opened in 1984, serves Giffnock, Clarkston, Thornliebank, Newton Mearns, Eaglesham, Jackton, Netherlee, Waterfoot, Netherplace, Millhall and Busby in East Renfrewshire. The school roll was 1,714 as of September 2005, but has now risen to more than 2000 due to the schools academic success. The head teacher is Gerry O’Neil. The school's motto is "Floreat Iuventus" which translates as "Let youth flourish".

Giffnock Newton Mearns Synagogue

The Giffnock Newton Mearns Synagogue, commonly known as Giffnock Shul (Yiddish: גיפנוק שול), is an Orthodox Jewish congregation and synagogue, located at 222 Fenwick Road in Giffnock, East Renfrewshire, to the south of Glasgow, Scotland, in the United Kingdom. The synagogue is the largest in Scotland and also features a religious day school for both children and teenagers. The congregation was formed through a 2021 merger of the Giffnock Synagogue and the Newton Mearns Synagogue, to form a congregation with 850 members. The final service held in the former Newtown Mearns Synagogue, at 14 Larchfield Court, was conducted in January 2023. The new congregation worships in the Ashkenazi rite.

Woodfarm High School

Woodfarm High School is a Scottish comprehensive secondary school in Woodfarm, East Renfrewshire. It has a roll of approximately 700 pupils. Gillian Boyle is the acting Headmistress, taking over from Nicola MacGlashan who left to join nearby Williamwood High School in August 2021. In 2012, it was ranked the 7th best state school in Scotland by the percentage of fifth years attaining at least five Higher passes.

East Renfrewshire

East Renfrewshire (Scots: Aest Renfrewshire; Scottish Gaelic: Siorrachd Rinn Friù an Ear) is one of 32 council areas of Scotland. It was formed in 1996, as a successor to the Eastwood district of the Strathclyde region. Clockwise, East Renfrewshire borders Glasgow to the northeast, South Lanarkshire to the southeast, East Ayrshire to the southwest, North Ayrshire to the west and Renfrewshire to the northwest. Many of the council area's northern settlements fall into the Greater Glasgow urban area. Until 1975, the council area formed part of the county of Renfrewshire for local government purposes along with the modern council areas of Renfrewshire and Inverclyde. These three council areas together still form a single lieutenancy area called Renfrewshire.
