Straiton - Izeria

Straiton is a village on the River Girvan in South Ayrshire in Scotland. It lies in the hills between Kirkmichael, Dalmellington, Crosshill, and Maybole. Straiton was mainly built in the 18th century to house mill workers and weavers working in Glasgow and Paisley. In 1846 it had 1363 inhabitants. Straiton Parish Church was built in 1758. Blairquhan Castle, open to visitors in spring and summer, was the historic home of the Hunter-Blair Baronets. Colonel Hunter Blair's Monument, a stone obelisk on Highgate Hill Tairlaw Linn, a local waterfall. Straiton was the main location for the film The Match, where two rival pubs played against each other in an annual football match as a challenge. However, since the village has only one pub, a house was used as a pub for filming.

Blairquhan Castle

Blairquhan ( blair-WHAHN, Scots: Blairwhan) is a Regency era castle near Maybole in South Ayrshire, Scotland. It was the historic home of the Hunter-Blair Baronets and remained in the family's possession until 2012, when it was sold to a Chinese company. Blairquhan is protected as a Category A listed building, and the grounds are included in the Inventory of Gardens and Designed Landscapes in Scotland, the national listing of significant gardens.

Cloncaird Castle

Cloncaird Castle is located near the small village of Kirkmichael, around 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) east of Maybole in South Ayrshire, Scotland. The castle lies beside the Kelsie Burn, at the centre of a 140 acres (57 ha) estate. Originally a 16th-century castle, it was extended and rebuilt as a country house in the early 19th century. After a time as a convalescent home, it is now a private residence once more.

Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock

Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock is a county constituency represented in the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It was created for the 2005 general election from parts of the old Ayr and Carrick, Cumnock and Doon Valley constituencies. It has been represented since 2024 by Elaine Stewart of Scottish Labour.
