Coaltown of Balgonie

Coaltown of Balgonie is a village of 1,059 people (2011 census) in south central Fife. It is located on the B9130 road, next to the new town of Glenrothes. Coaltown has a Premier shop, a pub (the Balgonie Arms), a bowling green (Balgonie Bowling Club), a village hall ( Victoria Hall), an undertakers, and a garage (Balgonie Motors). There is a playpark for children beside the primary school. Opposite the school is the football pitch for local team, Balgonie Scotia AFC.

Auchmuty High School

Auchmuty School is a state secondary school in the town of Glenrothes in the Fife council area of Scotland. Opened in 1957, it was the first school for secondary education in the area. It quickly outgrew the original building and additions were added in about 1970. The planning and construction of a completely new Auchmuty High School, beside the old one, began in 2011, with doors opening to pupils in 2013. With the old buildings remaining in use until the new ones were completed, the construction began on the playing fields beside the A92 and Queensway roundabout. After completion, the old buildings were gradually demolished and new playing fields were put in place, finishing in 2014. Auchmuty's sporting facilities now include 4 floodlit tennis courts, a multipurpose cage including outdoor basketball hoops, 3 full size grass pitches and an Astro turf floodlit football pitch which is used for a wide range of sports. Indoor sporting facilities include 2 small gymnasiums, a multi gym and a full size games hall with electronic scoreboard. The current role is around 1350 which is slightly higher than the recommended capacity for Auchmuty - a new school to replace the other two high schools in Glenrothes is currently being discussed.

Markinch railway station

Markinch railway station is a railway station in Markinch, Fife, Scotland, which serves the Glenrothes, Leslie and Levenmouth areas of Fife. The station is managed by ScotRail and is on the main Edinburgh to Aberdeen Line, 33+1⁄4 miles (53.5 km) north of Edinburgh Waverley. The station was rebuilt to include a new building and park and ride facilities for passengers travelling to Glenrothes and the East of Fife. There are up to ten buses an hour connecting the station with Glenrothes and four to the Levenmouth area. A cycle route has also been completed along the former Leslie Railway into Glenrothes.

Markinch

Markinch (, Scottish Gaelic: Marc Innis) is both a village and a parish in the heart of Fife, Scotland. According to an estimate taken in 2008, the village has a population of 2,420. The civil parish had a population of 16,530 (in 2011). Markinch is east of Fife's administrative centre, Glenrothes, and preceded Cupar as Fife's place of warranty and justice prior to the 13th century.
