Leeds New Lane railway station

Leeds New Lane was a proposed new railway station to accommodate High Speed Two rail services in West Yorkshire, England. It was planned to be constructed on a viaduct on New Lane south of Leeds city centre, the River Aire and Leeds City station to which it would be connected by an elevated walkway. The site is occupied by Central Park, a small low-rise office park built in the 1990s and other small office buildings. Whilst originally the preferred station option, a November 2015 review of the phase two route instead proposed that the Leeds HS2 platforms should join onto the side of the existing Leeds station. Unlike New Lane, this would have provided a common concourse for easy interchange between high speed and classic rail services.

Asda

Asda Stores Limited (), trading as Asda and often styled as ASDA, is a British supermarket and petrol station chain. Its headquarters is located in Leeds, England. The company was incorporated as Associated Dairies and Farm Stores in 1949. It expanded into Southern England during the 1970s and 1980s, and acquired Allied Carpets, 61 large Gateway Supermarkets and other businesses, such as MFI. It sold these acquisitions during the 1990s to concentrate on the supermarkets. It was listed on the London Stock Exchange until 1999 when it was acquired by large American retailer Walmart for £6.7 billion. Asda was the second-largest supermarket chain in the United Kingdom between 2003 and 2014 by market share, at which point it fell into third place. As of January 2025 its market share in the UK is 12.6 per cent. Besides its core supermarkets, the company also acts as a white label payment card provider offering assistance for insurance and payment services under the Asda Money brand and also has a mobile virtual network operator. In February 2021, the Issa brothers and TDR Capital acquired Asda, with Walmart retaining "an equity investment" in Asda, a seat on the board and "an ongoing commercial relationship". The deal came after a merger with Sainsbury's was rejected by the Competition and Markets Authority in April 2019. TDR Capital became the majority owner of Asda in November 2024 after buying Zuber Issa's 22.5 per cent holding, owning 67.5% of the company; Mohsin Issa owns a 22.5% stake but discontinued running the company in September 2024.

Bridgewater Place

Bridgewater Place, nicknamed The Dalek, is an office and residential skyscraper in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It was the tallest building in Yorkshire at the time of being topped out in September 2005, but is now the third-tallest after another two Leeds buildings, Altus House and Cirrus Point. Bridgewater Place is visible from up to 25 miles (40 kilometres) away.

2nd White Cloth Hall

The 2nd White Cloth hall was a marketplace for the sale of undyed cloth in Holbeck, Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It was built south of the river, between Meadow Lane and Hunslet Lane in 1756 to replace the 1st White Cloth Hall of 1711. The 2nd cloth hall was much larger than its predecessor but it only served 20 years until the construction of the enormous 3rd White Cloth Hall. The building was demolished in 1786, only 30 years after its construction. The only part of the building to survive was the cupola which was transferred to the 3rd White Cloth Hall.

Leeds Hunslet Lane railway station

Leeds Hunslet Lane railway station was opened by the North Midland Railway in Leeds in 1840 in what was then a middle-class area, south of the city. Designed by Francis Thompson, the trainshed consisted of an iron roof in four spans, with five lines running into it. Three of the lines were used for stabling carriages not in use under the central span, and each outer span had one line with a platform 300 yards (274 m) long. Turntables were provided at each end and the offices on the western side were fronted by an arcade with an arch surmounted with the arms of Leeds, Sheffield and Derby. It was shared by the Manchester and Leeds Railway, which ran on the NMR tracks from just north of Normanton since Parliament had refused to sanction two lines running side by side. It was replaced by the Midland Railway in 1846 by Leeds Wellington railway station and became a goods depot which closed in 1972. The site is now occupied by the Crown Point Retail Park, which opened in 1989.
