The Tapton Hill transmitting station (grid reference SK324870), more generally known as the Sheffield (Crosspool) transmitting station, is a broadcasting and telecommunications facility which serves Sheffield in South Yorkshire and is located on a hill in the suburb of Crosspool to the west of the city.

Tapton School is a secondary school with academy status located in Crosspool, in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. It is sited next to another secondary, King Edward VII School in Sheffield, and near to Lydgate Junior School in Crosspool, Lydgate Infant School in Sheffield and Notre Dame Catholic High School in Sheffield. Tapton School has approximately 1,650 pupils, aged between 11 and 18 years old. Tapton officially opened in 1960, but in 2000 the school was rebuilt under the Private Finance Initiative. Students and faculties officially moved to the new building in September 2001.

Crookes Cemetery
Crookes Cemetery is a cemetery between Crosspool and Crookes in the city of Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. Its main entrance is on Headland Road with additional access from Mulehouse Road. It was opened in 1906, and covers 29 acres (120,000 m2). By 2009, over 29,000 burials had taken place since its opening.
A central alley runs through the cemetery and separates the consecrated grounds to the north and the unconsecrated grounds to the south.
It is one of 16 cemeteries across the city that is maintained by Sheffield City Council.

Tapton Mount School
Tapton Mount School, formerly Sheffield School for Blind Children, formerly Sheffield School for the Blind was a school for the visually impaired situated at 20 Manchester Road, Sheffield, South Yorkshire. It opened in 1879 at a cost of £15,000. In the 1960s and 1970s, the headmaster Frederick Tooze pioneered the integration of students into local comprehensive schools. It closed in 1997 after the pupil roll fell to twelve.
