Paradise, Tyne and Wear

Paradise is an area of Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear, England. It is centred on the area at the bottom of Atkinson Road, where it used to meet Scotswood Road. In the Old Ordnance Survey map of Elswick for 1913 Paradise is just a small part of South Benwell, comprising the north shore of the River Tyne just west of the Armstrong Elswick Works, running up to Paradise Street and Evelyn Gardens, and the bottom half of Atkinson Road. It was also the location of the Paradise Pit also known as West Benwell Coillery, which opened in 1819. Although the mine closed in 1848, it was responsible for the deaths of 38 men on 30 March 1925, when a flooded working was broken into from the Montagu Pit in nearby Scotswood. Paradise is mentioned in the 1862 North East folk song "Blaydon Races" by George Ridley.

Vertu Motors Arena

The Vertu Motors Arena (formerly the Eagles Community Arena) is a multi-purpose built venue for events, meetings, sports and the community in the Elswick area of the city of Newcastle, England. The arena has a capacity for up to 3,500 spectators and is home to the Newcastle Eagles of the Super League Basketball and Women's Super League Basketball.

St Stephen's Church, Low Elswick

St Stephen's Church is a redundant Anglican church on Brunel Terrace, Low Elswick, Newcastle upon Tyne, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building, and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust.

Newcastle Sixth Form College is a sixth-form college in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. Opened in March 2014, the college forms part of the larger organisation Newcastle College. It offers around 26 different A-Level subjects, as well as an access to A-Levels and GCSEs programme. The college is located on Westmorland Road, in Newcastle City Centre. Owing to its close proximity to both Central Station Metro station and Newcastle Central Station, the college attracts students from across Tyneside and surrounding regions including Northumberland and Sunderland. The college is also a member of NCG group alongside the neighbouring Newcastle college and five other colleges across the UK.
