Moor Music Festival

The Moor Music Festival was an annual music festival held initially on a farm in Addingham Moorside, near the town of Ilkley, West Yorkshire. For the 2009 and 2010 festivals, the setting was moved to Heslaker Farm near to Skipton in North Yorkshire. The festival had artists playing from the local area and beyond, many being prominent artists in the New Yorkshire music scene. In 2006, bands appearing included The Lodger, Monkey Swallows the Universe, Black Wire, Middleman and iLIKETRAiNS. 2007 saw new additions such as the electronic music tent The Twisted Ballroom hosted by Leeds collective Gonzo and a dub, jungle and dubstep tent called The Trench run by Leeds soundsystem High Pressure.
The event was free from corporate sponsorship and promoted green action and other environmental causes, with stalls at the event on trade justice, climate change, third world development and other social issues. The 2011 event was relabeled as the Beacons Festival, but was cancelled due to adverse weather on the first day of the event. Thereafter, the event moved away from Skipton and was held on various days across the North of England.

Craven College

Craven College is a further education college based in Skipton, North Yorkshire, England. Craven offers a variety of further and higher education courses, including bachelor degrees. Craven College started life in the early 1800s as the Skipton Mechanics Institute on the High Street, Skipton, England. During the Second World War the Skipton Art School and the Skipton Technical Institute were established along with two Evening Institutes and in 1954 the Skipton Art School and Technical Institution became the Craven Institute for further education. In 1975 the college was renamed The Craven College of Adult Education and full time courses flourished mainly in courses leading to secretarial work, hotel and catering, social work and management of small institutions. The Aireville Campus was developed in 1989 adjoining The Skipton Academy (Aireville School). In 1994, the Old Fire Station was opened as the Hair and Beauty Annexe followed by the Auction Mart Campus to accommodate all land-based courses and The Aviation Academy at Leeds Bradford Airport. Tyro Training was established in 2003 on the High Street, Skipton as the business arm of Craven College. In response to demand new premises were secured in Scarborough. Tyro Training, Skipton moved to new premises at the Auction Mart, Skipton in October 2018. The Animal Management Centre was open for students in 2018 with specialist rooms for aquatics, invertebrates, nocturnals, reptiles, amphibians and small mammals. Ripon Evolve is the latest addition to the Craven College group.

The Skipton Academy

The Skipton Academy (formerly Aireville School) is a small rural 11–16 coeducational secondary school located in Skipton, North Yorkshire, England. Previously a community school administered by North Yorkshire County Council, Aireville School converted to academy status in September 2014 and was renamed The Skipton Academy.

Trappes Hall

Trappes Hall is a historic building in Carleton-in-Craven, a village in North Yorkshire, in England. The house was built in about 1686 by Christopher Trappes, when he married into a local family. It passed down the generations until one owner was involved in the Jacobite rebellions, forfeiting the property to the Crown. Its later history is unknown, but it was divided into two cottages, probably in the 19th century. It was Grade II* listed in 1954. The house is built of stone, with a stone slate roof. It has two storeys and a large attic, and a nearly square plan. It contains two large mullioned and transomed windows, and smaller mullioned windows, and in the attics are large gabled dormers. It appears that there was originally a central doorway on the north side, but this was blocked when the house was divided, and there are now three 19th century doors, one to the north and two to the south. There is a large, central chimney, with fireplaces in both the former main room and parlour.

Stirton with Thorlby is a civil parish in the county of North Yorkshire, England. The parish includes the settlements of Stirton and Thorlby. The population at the 2011 census was 204, an increase on the 2001 census figure of 173.
