The Soyombo movie theater or Soyombo cinema is a cinema located on the west side of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. It is one of the main movie theaters in the country. The movie theater was first founded in 1990 by Russian engineers of the Soviet Union. After privatization in 1991, it was owned by "Soyombo production and travel" Co, ltd. In 2007, renovation of the building and technology began under the investments of the owner company. In August 2008 the new Soyombo cinema opened and now shows U.S. and domestic films in three screens daily.

Orkhon University

Orkhon University is nonprofit private university in Khan Uul, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Founder Khajidsuren Nyamaa established the university in 1992 as Orkhon Institute of Foreign Languages and Secretarial Training. A branch of the school was founded in Zavkhan Province in 1998. The postgraduate program was opened in 2002. The language of instruction is Mongolian, but there is a strategic plan to shift to bilingual education, Mongolian and English, in the near future.

History

The power station was commissioned in 1968. In 2014, an additional 50 MW of generation capacity of the power station was commissioned. In September 2024, Mongolia and Russia signed an agreement where the Russian company Inter RAO is expected to modernize and reconstruct the power station for 1.3 billion euros. On 2 June 2025, a fire severely damaged the high-pressure turbine hall of the power station, disrupting nearly one-third of the city’s district heating and 13% of its electricity supply.

The power station has an installed generation capacity of 198 MW. In 2023, the power station used a total of 9.4 million m3 of water to generate power. It also acts as a district heating for Ulaanbaatar. It has a heat supply capacity of 2,449 GJ/h and annual heat generation of 10,074 TJ in 2020.
