Rotherham Main Colliery was situated in Canklow, about 0.5 miles south of Rotherham town centre in the Rother Valley. The area was the site of an ancient crossing of the river set below the crag on which were Canklow Woods, an ancient woodland area.

Canklow engine shed
Canklow Engine Shed was a traction maintenance depot located in Canklow, Rotherham, England. The depot opened in 1900 and was situated on the Midland Main Line, 1.5 miles (2.4 km) south of Rotherham Masborough station. The depot area had six lines; three of these fed into just one line that went through the shed, whilst the other three were sidings, one of which had the coal stage.
The shed closed in 1965 and was later demolished with a housing estate erected on the site in 1990.

Rother FM was an Independent Local Radio station serving the English town of Rotherham. The station was on air from 2006 until it was closed in 2020 by owners Bauer so that the frequency could be used to broadcast Greatest Hits Radio Yorkshire.

Brinsworth
Brinsworth is a village and civil parish in the Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham, in South Yorkshire, England. It is situated close to the River Rother between Rotherham (to the north-east) and Sheffield (to the south-west). At the time of the 2001 census it had a population of 8,950, reducing to 8,789 at the 2011 Census.
Brinsworth became a new separate ward in May 2021 which covers the whole village beyond the parish boundary. This change was to accommodate an expanding neighbouring ward of Rother Vale - that includes the new mainly private housing estate of Waverley which has around 3,800 homes with its own school and lake frontage.
