International Finance Center Seoul

International Finance Center Seoul, commonly known as IFC Seoul, is a mixed-use integrated commercial development in Yeouido-dong, Yeongdeungpo District, Seoul, South Korea. The IFC project is one of the first large-scale developments in Korea, led by an international consortium. It was officially launched in 2005, and is part of Seoul Metropolitan Government's plan to rejuvenate the Yeouido area as a regional financial hub. The 500,000 square meter development is made up of IFC Office Towers, Conrad Seoul Hotel and IFC Mall Seoul, designed by Arquitectonica. Completed in 2012, it is the 2nd tallest building in Seoul, and the 6th tallest in Korea. The IFC Seoul is connected to Yeouido Station on Line 5 and Line 9.

Yeouido

Yeouido, also Yoido, is a river island on the Han River in Seoul, South Korea. It is Seoul's main finance, media, and investment banking district. It is 8.4 square kilometres large and has a population of 32,674 as of August 2023. The island is located in the Yeongdeungpo District of Seoul, and largely corresponds to the precinct of Yeoui-dong. The island contains the National Assembly Building, where the National Assembly of South Korea meets, the Korea Financial Investment Association, the large Yoido Full Gospel Church, the 63 Building, and the headquarters of LG, Korean Broadcasting System, and the Korea Exchange Center. Due mainly to its importance as a financial district and its central location, Yeouido is home to some of Seoul and South Korea's tallest skyscrapers, including the International Finance Center Seoul, Parc1 Tower, the Federation of Korea Industries Tower, as well as the iconic 63 Building. It was uninhabited until the construction of the peninsula's first airport, Yeouido Airport. As the airport was prone to flooding, it was eventually replaced by commercial and residential construction beginning in the late 1960s. In 2024, the metropolitan government permitted buildings with floor area ratios up to 1600% from the previous 1000%, allowing the constructions of buildings over 350 meters.

Yeouinaru station

Yeouinaru station is a station on the Seoul Subway Line 5. Because of having to cross the Han River by a deep tunnel and not by a rail bridge, it is the deepest train station in South Korea with a depth of 27.5 metres below sea level.

Yeouido Airport

Yeouido Airport was an international airport in Yeouido, Seoul, South Korea. It operated as an international airport from 1929 to 1958, and thereafter as a military base until 1971. The former airport has been redeveloped into a business district and Yeouido Park.

Yeouido station

Yeouido station is a subway station on Line 5 and Line 9 of the Seoul Subway system. It is one of the stations that serve the eponymous island of Yeouido, one of Seoul's financial hubs. The large Yeouido Park is close to this station. A new subway line starting from Yeouido broke ground in December 2011 heading south. In 2023, the new subway line will be extended to Ansan in southwest Gyeonggi Province. Travel time from Yeouido to Ansan is expected to take only around 30 minutes.

History

Parc1 is a US$1.5-billion shopping/hotel/office complex realized by Skylan Properties Korea Ltd., a foreign-invested property development and management services group with offices in Seoul, Beijing and Kuala Lumpur. Morgan Stanley, a global investment bank, was engaged as the financial advisor to arrange financing for the project. Parc1 was the current Tongil Parking Lot site, a 46,465 square metre plot set between financial and residential districts and bordering Yeouido Park. Designed by architect Lord Richard Rogers, chief architectural advisor to the mayor of London, the central structure will be a six-story glass mall, offering space for 400 stores.
