Bonnyrigg

Bonnyrigg is a town in Midlothian, Scotland, eight miles (13 kilometres) southeast of Edinburgh city centre, between the Rivers North and South Esk. The town had a population of 14,663 in the 2001 census, rising to 15,677 in the 2011 census, both figures being based on the 2010 definition of the locality, which, as well as Bonnyrigg and the adjacent settlement of Lasswade, includes Polton village, Poltonhall housing estate, and modern development at Hopefield. The estimated population as of 2018 was 18,120, the highest of any town in Midlothian. Along with Lasswade, Bonnyrigg is a twin town with Saint-Cyr-l'École, France.

New Dundas Park

New Dundas Park is a stadium in Bonnyrigg, Scotland. It is used mostly for football matches as the home ground of Bonnyrigg Rose. The stadium has a capacity of 3,000.

Bonnyrigg Rose F.C.

Bonnyrigg Rose Football Club is a Scottish football club from the town of Bonnyrigg. Formed in 1881 and nicknamed the Rose, the team plays in the Lowland League, having been relegated in 2024–25. Their home ground is New Dundas Park, and they have traditionally played in red and white hoops. They have won the Scottish Junior Cup twice, in 1966 and in 1978, as well as finishing runners-up in 1972. Their 6–1 defeat of Whitburn in 1966 holds a joint record for the margin of victory in a Scottish Junior Cup final. Bonnyrigg won the East Region Super League championship four times during their membership, making them the league's most successful side. At a special general meeting held in March 2018, the club's members voted in favour of applying to join the senior East of Scotland Football League. Bonnyrigg were part of a larger movement of eastern junior clubs to the East of Scotland League that year. In 2019, they won promotion to the Lowland League and successfully applied for Scottish Football Association membership. In 2022, they won promotion to Scottish League Two, thus entering the Scottish Professional Football League for the first time, and after doing so, changed their name from Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic to the more streamlined Bonnyrigg Rose.

Hopefield, Bonnyrigg

Hopefield is an area in the south of Bonnyrigg, Midlothian, occupied by a mid-20th century residential neighbourhood and by an early-21st century, ongoing housing development, built on land dating back to 17th century Polton South Mains Farm. The area also contains a new school, Burnbrae Primary which was opened in 2012 but required an additional 'split campus' solution by 2017 to accommodate the many families with young children moving to the area, with nursery and Primary 1 classes to be built alongside the already-planned replacement facility for the local Catholic primary school, St Mary's, to be completed in 2020. However, this still would not meet the demand for places, and the main Burnbrae school also had to be extended in 2019.
