The Southern University System is a system of public historically black universities in the U.S. state of Louisiana. Its headquarters are at the Joseph Samuel Clark Administration Building on the Southern University campus in Baton Rouge. The Southern University System is the only historically black college system in the United States.

Southern University

Southern University and A&M College is a public historically black land-grant university in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, United States. It is the largest historically black college or university in Louisiana, a member-school of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, and the flagship institution of the Southern University System. Its campus encompasses 512 acres, with an agricultural experimental station on an additional 372-acre site, five miles north of the main campus on Scott's Bluff overlooking the Mississippi River in the northern section of Baton Rouge. Southern University's 13 intercollegiate athletics teams are known as the Jaguars, and are members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference in NCAA Division I. The Human Jukebox is a well known collegiate marching band that has represented Southern University since 1947.

A. W. Mumford Stadium

A. W. Mumford Stadium is a 28,500-seat multi-purpose stadium on the campus of Southern University in Scotlandville, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It opened in 1928 and is home to the Southern Jaguars football and Southern University Laboratory School Kittens football teams, as well as the Southern women's soccer team. The Roscoe Moore Track located in the stadium is home to the men's and women's track and field teams. The stadium is named after College Football Hall of Fame member, coach Arnett W. "Ace" Mumford, who coached the Jaguars from 1936–42 and 1944–61.

Southern University Law Center

Southern University Law Center is a public law school in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It is part of the historically Black Southern University System and was opened for instruction in September 1947. It was authorized by the Louisiana State Board of Education as a Law School for Blacks to be located at Southern University, a historically Black college, and to open for the 1947-1948 academic session. The school offers full-time, part-time, and evening programs. For students who want to pursue the JD and MPA, the school offers a joint-degree program in cooperation with the Nelson Mandela School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs at Southern. SULC's students learn two different systems of law: Louisiana is a civil law jurisdiction, while law in every other state is based on the British common-law tradition.

F. G. Clark Center

The F. G. Clark Activity Center is a 7,500-seat multi-purpose arena in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, that opened in 1975. It is home to two Southern University basketball teams, the Southern Jaguars and Southern Lady Jaguars. The arena also holds concerts and other events. The arena is named for Dr. Felton Grandison Clark, who was the second president of Southern University after it had been designated as a land-grant college, serving from 1938 to 1969.
