Le centre de recherche et d'innovation sur le sport (CRIS), créé en 1983, est un laboratoire spécialisé dans l'innovation liée au sport dont le siège est situé à Villeurbanne, dans le département du Rhône. Le laboratoire travaille sous la tutelle de l'université Claude Bernard Lyon 1. Les études sont effectuées par deux équipes de recherche : « Activités physiques et vulnérabilité » (APV) et « Performance Motrice, Mentale et du Matériel » (P3M).

Claude Bernard University Lyon 1 is one of the three public universities of Lyon, France. It is named after the French physiologist Claude Bernard and specialises in science and technology, medicine, and sports science. It was established in 1971 by the merger of the 'faculté des sciences de Lyon' with the 'faculté de médecine'.
The main administrative, teaching and research facilities are located in Villeurbanne, with other campuses located in Gerland, Rockefeller, and Laennec in the 8th arrondissement of Lyon. Attached to the university are the Hospices Civils de Lyon, including the 'Centre Hospitalier Lyon-Sud', which is the largest teaching hospital in the Rhône-Alpes region and the second-largest in France.
The university has been independent since January 2009. In 2020 it managed an annual budget of over €420 million and had 2857 faculty.

The Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Lyonaplike də ljɔ̃]; "Lyon National Institute for Applied Sciences") or INSA Lyon is a French grande école and engineering school. The university is located on the La Doua – LyonTech campus, in a cluster of science and technological universities and Grandes Écoles. La Doua is located in Villeurbanne, a suburb of Lyon.
The school was founded in 1957 to train highly qualified engineers, support continuing education, and conduct research. The five-year curriculum aims at training engineers who possess human qualities and are well versed in the primary areas of science and engineering. Students may pursue a PhD upon completion of the 5-year curriculum. Graduates from INSA Lyon are called Insaliens.

The École nationale supérieure des sciences de l'information et des bibliothèques is a French grande école based in Villeurbanne, near Lyon. It is administered by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation.
Enssib's predecessor, the École nationale supérieure de bibliothécaires, was established by decree in 1963 as an Établissement public à caractère administratif. The contemporary Enssib was formed by later decree in 1992, with elevated status as a grand établissement.
It provides education and training for library curators and librarians in the French civil service after a competitive examination. The school is also a member of the University of Lyon and grants a variety of master's degrees, open to those not in the civil service.
Since 2009, the school publishes the Bulletin des bibliothèques de France, a journal established in 1956 by the merging of the Bulletin de documentation bibliographique and Bulletin d'information de la Direction des Bibliothèques de France. The school belongs to the Couperin consortium.
