Governor's House, Peshawar

The Governor's House is a palace in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. It has a secret tunnel from the left side mosque to the Bala Hisar Fort it is about 1.25 km long, amidst what is now a park. It is close to the Peshawar Museum. It serves as the official residence of the governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Governor House was commissioned in the early 20th century by the British. The famous British era contractor responsible for the Mardan-Chitral Road, Attock Landi Kotal Rail track and Drosh Fort, Khan Bahadur Nawab Abdul Hameed Khan of Badrashi was contracted to build the building in a traditional Greco-Roman design prevalent in other grand British buildings across India.

2007 Peshawar hotel bombing

On 15 May 2007, a suicide bombing occurred at the Marhaba hotel in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. It killed 24 people, including the hotel owner and two of his sons, and injured another 30. The hotel in Peshawar's old city was reportedly popular with tribal visitors from Afghanistan.

2023 Peshawar mosque bombing

On 30 January 2023, at around 1:30 p.m. Pakistan Standard Time, a suicide bomber set off an explosion within the Police Lines mosque of Peshawar in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, killing 84 people and injuring 217. The mosque, located within a high-security compound containing several government offices, including the headquarters of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, was infiltrated by the perpetrator after he had disguised himself as a police officer, allowing him to pass through several security checkpoints and join the congregational Zuhr prayers. The bombing destroyed a wall and the roof of the mosque, burying hundreds of people in rubble. Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, a faction of the Pakistani Taliban, claimed responsibility for the bombing, stating that it was carried out to avenge the death of their founder and former leader Omar Khalid Khorasani. Shortly after their claim, the TTP issued a statement denying any involvement, though the Pakistani government and other commentators maintain that the group likely knew of and approved the attack. The bombing was widely condemned domestically and internationally, with leaders from around the world expressing condolences to the victims and their families. The United Nations Secretary General's spokeswoman called the bombing "particularly abhorrent" as it took place in a site of worship.

Nishtar Hall is a cultural centre and music venue in Peshawar, Pakistan. It was established to promote and represent the Pashtun culture and music. Hall was established in 1985. It is an only and large entertainment venue in Peshawar with a capacity of 600 people. It remained closed for eight years and opened again in 2000s.

Managed by the Directorate of Archives and Libraries, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the library holds a substantial collection, dating back to 1849. It includes 140,000 books, 35,000 publications, 45,000 original files, 25,000 magazines, and 600,000 old newspapers. The archives contain important historical documents and reports, covering events such as the kidnapping of Ellis by Ajab Khan Afridi and the murder of Dr. Khan Sahib. Noteworthy items include the Durand Line documentation, the Pakhtunistan Movement records, letters from Quaid-i-Azam, Tareekh-i-Peshawar by Ram Gopal Das, and various other publications and magazines.
