Hornby is a village and civil parish in the county of North Yorkshire, England. It lies on a minor road between Great Smeaton and Appleton Wiske. It lies roughly 9 miles (14 km) from Northallerton, 9 miles (14 km) from Darlington, and 7 miles (11 km) from Yarm. According to the 2001 census, Hornby had a population of 206, which increased in the 2011 census to 238. From 1974 to 2023 it was part of the district of Hambleton, it is now administered by the unitary North Yorkshire Council. The village has very few amenities. There is a small church, a telephone box and a post box. The village pub is called the "Grange Arms".

Great Smeaton is a village and civil parish in North Yorkshire, England. It lies on elevated ground near the River Wiske, which is a tributary of the River Swale. The parish population at the 2011 census was 187.

St Eloy's Church, Great Smeaton

St Eloy's Church is an Anglican church in Great Smeaton, a village in North Yorkshire, in England. There was a church in Great Smeaton at the time of the Domesday Book, and the font is from this period. The oldest part of the current building is the nave, dating from the 13th and 15th centuries. The remainder of the church was rebuilt in 1862 by G. E. Street. It was grade II listed in 1970. It is the only church in England dedicated to Saint Eloy. It is built in stone with a Welsh slate roof, and consists of a nave, a south aisle, a south porch, and a lower chancel with a north vestry. At the west end is a bellcote with arcaded sides, and a tall pyramidal roof. The porch is gabled and has an entrance with a pointed arch, a chamfered surround under a relieving arch, impost bands, stone coping, and a cross.

All Saints Church, Sockburn

All Saints Church is a ruined Church of England parish church in Sockburn, County Durham, England. A Grade I listed building, the church has pre- and post-Conquest mediaeval aspects, and is linked to the legends of the Sockburn Worm. The church was in use until 1838, when it was replaced by All Saints' Church, Girsby, across the River Tees.

Sockburn Hall

Sockburn Hall is a privately owned 19th-century country house at Sockburn, near Darlington, County Durham, England. It is a Grade II* listed building. As at 2008, both the Hall and adjoining Grade II coach house were listed by English Heritage on the Buildings at Risk Register, as was the adjacent ruined Grade I Church of All Saints.
