Les attentats de Christchurch sont une série d'attaques terroristes racistes d'extrême droite commise le 15 mars 2019 par Brenton Tarrant contre deux mosquées de la ville de Christchurch, en Nouvelle-Zélande, qui ont fait 51 morts et 49 blessés. Il s'agit de la tuerie la plus meurtrière commise spécifiquement contre des musulmans dans un pays occidental et l'attentat d'extrême droite ayant causé le plus de victimes depuis les attentats d'Oslo et d'Utøya en 2011 (77 morts).

The Al Noor Mosque is a Sunni mosque in the Christchurch suburb of Riccarton in New Zealand. It was built between 1983 and 1985 by the Muslim Association of Canterbury, an organisation founded in 1977 that also manages the mosque building. It was the primary target of the Christchurch mosque shootings of 15 March 2019.

The first recorded match on the ground was in 1867, when Canterbury cricket team hosted Otago cricket team. Canterbury used the ground infrequently from then through until the 1920s, but hardly stopped during World War I.
The first match in the Plunket Shield was played there in December 1907, when Canterbury played Auckland. Canterbury returned there in 1979, and played a number of their 1993/94 Shell Cup home matches at the ground.
