The 0.5 mile or circa 800 metres line once served the Cochran & Co. Boiler factory and the Newbie Brick and Tile Works at Newbie. The line was accessed at Newbie Junction and was approached from the west.

Newbie Junction Halt railway station was a railway station in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. It was located just west of Annan on the old Glasgow and South Western Railway main line and briefly served workers employed 0.5 mile or 800 metres away at the Cochran & Co. Boiler factory and the Newbie Brick and Tile Works at Newbie. The Newbie Siding branched off near the halt and was accessed from the west.

Newbie is a populated place in Annandale South, near Annan. It is home to a pharmaceutics plant belonging to Phoenix Chemicals of Liverpool. The Annandale Way Great Trail has a trailhead at Newbie Barns, a small collection of dwellings in Newbie.

Annan railway station

Annan is a railway station on the Glasgow South Western Line, which runs between Carlisle and Glasgow Central via Kilmarnock. The station, situated 17 miles 51 chains (28 km) north-west of Carlisle, serves the town of Annan in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. It is owned by Network Rail and managed by ScotRail. Shortly after leaving the station, heading west towards Dumfries, the line crosses a viaduct over the River Annan and adjoining flood plains. Also, situated just to the west of the station, is a disused junction and former alignment of a line which used to head south to the Cochran's Boiler Plant at Newbie.
