Leeds Trinity University

Leeds Trinity University is a public university in Horsforth, Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. Originally established to provide qualified teachers to Catholic schools, it gradually expanded and now offers foundation, undergraduate, and postgraduate degrees in a range of humanities and social sciences. Previously known as Leeds Trinity & All Saints, the institution became a university college in 2009 after gaining the right to award its own degrees, and was granted full university status in December 2012. The university is a member of the Cathedrals Group and the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities.

Rawdon Billing

Rawdon Billing, sometimes referred to as Billing Hill, is a tree-topped hill situated in Rawdon, West Yorkshire, England. Reaching an elevation of 231 metres (758 ft), it is a significant landmark in the Aireborough area. The remains of a quarry, as well as concrete foundations for World War II defensive installations, can be found near the top. A number of local footpaths (81, 89, 90 and 91) cross the Billing or near to it, and it is possible to see many landmarks on a clear day, including York Minster, with a very good view of aircraft entering and leaving Leeds Bradford International Airport. It is owned by the Rawdon Trust, land agents for the Emmott family from Lancashire. The Billing is a popular place for local walkers and plane spotters as it overlooks Leeds Bradford Airport. In 1778, a gold torc was found on the Billing. The whereabouts of the artifact is unknown. Though sparse, there is evidence of coal on the Billing; however, though it was used previously as a quarry, there is no sign of mining. Stone from the Billing was apparently used at the base of 48 Albion Street in Leeds city centre. The former bank now houses a Starbucks.

Rawdon, West Yorkshire

Rawdon is a village and civil parish in the metropolitan borough of the City of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It sits on the River Aire and on the A65 south of Yeadon. The northern parts of the village are part of the Guiseley and Rawdon ward of Leeds City Council and the southern part is in the Horsforth ward. The whole village is included in the Leeds North West parliamentary constituency.

Horsforth School

Horsforth School is a science specialist secondary school with academy status in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. Opened in 1972 and located in Horsforth, it educates around 1,500 boys and girls, aged 11 to 18. It gained Special Science status in 2002. In 2012 75% of students received 5 A*-C GCSEs including English and Maths. Horsforth School also includes a post 16 centre. The school has been awarded the school curriculum award, and has Artsmark and Sportsmark status. The school won the United Kingdom Aerospace Youth Rocketry Challenge in 2008 and entered two teams into the 2009 competition. It won the competition again in 2010, becoming the only school ever to win twice. The school faced criticism in 2015 for planning an optional sports trip to Barbados for pupils in years 8, 9 and 10, costing £1,650 per pupil.
