Middlesbrough railway station

Middlesbrough is a railway station on the Durham Coast, Esk Valley and Tees Valley lines. The station serves the town of Middlesbrough, in North Yorkshire, England. It is owned by Network Rail and managed by TransPennine Express. Direct destinations include Darlington, Redcar Central, Saltburn, Sunderland, Newcastle, York and Manchester Airport. There is also direct service to London Kings Cross once per weekday. According to the Office of Rail and Road statistics, Middlesbrough station is the fourth busiest in the North East region, with 1,466,884 total entries and exits (2023–24 period).

Esk Valley line

The Esk Valley Line is a railway line located in the north of England, covering a total distance of approximately 35 miles (56 km), running from Middlesbrough to Whitby. The line follows the course of the River Esk for much of its eastern half. The Esk Valley Line was designated as a community rail line in July 2005, being one of seven intended pilots for the Department for Transport's Community Rail Development Strategy. Northern Trains' services call at all stations along the line, with the North Yorkshire Moors Railway operating heritage services along part of the line between Grosmont and Whitby.

Club Bongo

Bongo Club, also known as Club Bongo International, is a reggae club and one of the oldest nightclubs in Middlesbrough, England. The club is located on Bridge Street West near Middlesbrough Railway Station. It closed in June 2017 due to its licence being revoked after a man was attacked at the club. It had been due to re-open after a £400,000 refit in spring 2018.

The Zetland

The Zetland is a hotel in the town centre of Middlesbrough, in England. The building was constructed in about 1860, as a hotel with a pub serving Middlesbrough railway station. It was extended to the rear in 1893 by J. M. Bottomley, and then in 1898 by W. Duncan. It is built of brick, with the front rendered to resemble stone. The building was renovated in 2018, and includes a brasserie and bar. The building was Grade II listed in 1988. It also appears on the Campaign for Real Ale's National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors. Inside, the Victorian mosaic floor in the lobby survives, but the main interest is in the ground floor rear room, which retains its tiling in cream, brown and blue, large round-arched mirrors, and decorative plaster ceiling.

Middlesbrough ( MID-əlz-brə), colloquially known as Boro, is a port town in the Borough of Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, England. Lying to the south of the River Tees, it forms part of the Teesside built-up area and the Tees Valley. In 2021, it had a population of 148,215.
